Students Give Comcast an F: Press Conference
For decades, Congress and the Federal Communications Commission have failed to close the digital divide. Their inaction, negligence, and dysfunction continue through the global pandemic, leaving students and parents to fight billion-dollar corporations standing in the way of classroom access as school continues virtually this fall.

Comcast has raked in record profits during the pandemic as 22 million people have no other option for their internet service. As majority Black and Brown communities struggle to afford to stay connected and fall offline, Comcast is demanding millions in ransom from cash-strapped school systems and economically devastated communities so lower-income children can get a public education online. That must end now.

Join this press briefing to hear from the students, parents, teachers and local lawmakers across the country who are demanding that Comcast stop holding our children’s education hostage and urging action from other internet service providers, the FCC and Congress to get our families connected now.
